Here is some information that we hope you will find helpful:  

 

Moving to new accommodation 

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions page on the Sanctuary website for more information about moving on: https://sanctuary.gov.wales/super/moveon 

The WG works closely with families that have children to help provide continuity in their education. If you have children and are thinking of moving on it may be a good idea to move in the school holidays. 

If you want someone to talk to about moving on from your accommodation you can call or email Housing Justice Cymru, the contact details are in the section below. 

 

English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) 

Many of Ukrainians are improving with spoken English. 

Here is some information about courses: 

•       Your Local Authority may run courses. You can visit your Local Authority website or speak to your resettlement support worker, or visit the https://www.sanctuary.gov.wales/localarea section on the Sanctuary website to find out more, or ask at your local library / hub. 

•       You can find ESOL courses in Cardiff, Swansea, Newport or Wrexham through the https://reach.wales/en

•       If you live in other areas of Wales, you can find courses through https://www.adultlearning.wales/en/about/our-courses/esol. 

There is also a range of online resources to help support your English language learning journey whatever your age or ability: 

•       Adults can visit the British Council https://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/getting-started 

•       If you are a young person you may find these online lessons useful:

If you can commit to an intensive English Language and Employability course, to help your future employment prospects and better match your skillset you may wish to find our more here:

Helpline 

There is a helpline for anyone who is sponsored by Welsh Government. You can call the helpline on 08081751508 from within the United Kingdom. From outside the United Kingdom, the number is +4402045425671. Calls from outside the UK may be charged but the number is free from inside the UK. 

This helpline is available Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. 

Housing Justice Cymru 

For help with any housing or move on issues you can speak to Housing Justice Cymru on 01654 550 550, or if you prefer you can email them:  UkraineHostSupport@housingjustice.org.uk  

Mental Health and Wellbeing 

The Sanctuary website has some information about support for your Mental Health and Wellbeing. This includes links to the

Wales Sanctuary Service 

The Welsh Refugee Council is funded by Welsh Government to deliver specialist  Ukraine support services. Welsh Refugee Council work closely with Welsh local authorities and stakeholders to support Ukrainians in Wales. Advice and support can be found by contacting the Wales Sanctuary Service on 0808 196 7273  

British Red Cross 

The British Red Cross offers specialist post-arrival integration support to Ukrainian family members arriving in Wales through the Ukraine Family Scheme. British Red Cross can be contacted via email: RSWalesUkraine@redcross.org.uk or phone – 01633 720 010
